Our planet, Earth. We rely on her for the very air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we grow, and a myriad of other things in our daily lives. And yet, we’ve put the earth under enormous stress and it’s going to take a lot more people caring deeply about our well-being if we’re going to make a change. Hi. I’m Diana from the Living Globe Society, and I wanna tell you about our nonprofit company, which was created to foster a deeper connection between humanity and the Earth by making state of the art digital globes that will fit on your coffee table so your whole family can see the entire Earth live as she is at that moment, much like the astronauts saw her from the moon.
We believe we can recreate the same sense of wonder and connectedness that brought many astronauts to tears when they saw the whole Earth alive from space and encourage humanity to create a new, stronger connection with our planet today. These living globes will be made from micro-LED screens, a little like your television but in the shape of a sphere and will be connected to the Internet to display live color pictures of the Earth taken by existing satellites. Think of it like a big snow globe, but you don’t shake it to see snow. Instead, you see the whole Earth live, and it will almost be like being in two places at once, looking down at a live picture of the Earth on the living globe in your living room while you’re on the Earth looking up at the satellite taking the picture you’re seeing. Now imagine walking outside your house and seeing clouds in the sky, then walking back into your house looking at the living globe on your coffee table and watching as those same clouds that were above you outside move across the Earth.
Imagine seeing the dark side of the Earth at night with all the lights from the cities, and then watching as night turns into day and back into night. Imagine seeing our planet as she lives and breathes, her heartbeat and her circulation as weather patterns and ocean currents. We believe that if millions of people all over the world could see the Earth live in their own homes like this, they would care more deeply about our well-being, and it will strengthen the relationship we have with our planet and bring us together. So collectively, we can make the changes needed to heal the Earth and relieve her from the stress she’s under. What can one person do?
